New Police Chief For Dallas By The End Of The Month

According to the results of a community survey, the members of the public are expecting to see transparency and high experience from their next chief. Dallas is set to have the new police chief by the end of the month, according to a memo from the Dallas city manager, shared publicly on Tuesday.

The memo shared by the city manager also outlines the results of the community survey, showing what exactly members of the state would like or expect from their next chief of police. The memo stated that the qualities they expect including transparency, experience, reducing violent crime rates and being able to build community trust.

This year, there were 36 people from across the country who applies for the position. The next update on the short listed members will be revealed on December 14.

A public safety report showed the logistics from November 2020 and showed that there were 26 additional homicides, 4000 blighted properties were re-mediates and 911 cal holding reduced by 4 seconds from before and more street lights were installed. The report also showed that there were more police officers who left the department than those who have joined during the particular month. Hence, one of the qualities the townspeople are expecting from the new chief is being able to retain and even recruit more people.

However, the new chief’s top priority is to reduce crime rate, taking into account the number of crimes that took place in Dallas over the past year.
