The US President Donald Trump is likely to visit India as early as next month, said officials. The officials said that, the dates of the visit is being worked on although the sources said that the visit will be during the second half of February. Trump is expected to visit a second city other than the national capital Delhi.

The visit is expected to underline the close strategic partnership between India and the US which is popularly billed as the world’s oldest and largest democracies.

Earlier on January 7, during a telephonic conversation, Modi told Trump that ties between the two countries, India and the US have grown from strength to strength. The desire of Modi in continuing to work with the US President has also been expressed in order to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The substantive focus during the US President Trump’s visit to India is said to be on the business side of the relationship.

India-US ties have been warmed rapidly in the past two decades with four presidential visits until now as the then President of the US Bill Clinton had made a visit in March 2000 where as George Bush, the successor of Bill Clinton made a visit in 2006. The Former President Barak Obama came twice to India, once in 2010 during his first term in office and the next visit was in 2015 as a chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations.

Trump has called PM Modi as the ‘father of India’ as he had brought the country together and Trump has also addressed Modi being the American version of Elvis.
