Chennai Super Kings happens to be one of the best teams of IPL and they have been the hot favorite every year. Critics say that the team is off to the worst start ever. Chennai Super Kings happens to be the second most successful team in IPL since the format of cricket started.

Top player MS Dhoni announced that he decided to step down as the captain of Chennai Super Kings two days before the season commenced and Ravindra Jadeja is replaced. MS Dhoni scored a quick half-century in the first match but this could not make Chennai Super Kings score a victory. Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaekwad and Moeen Ali. Shardul Thakur, Faf du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood were not retained. Chennai Super Kings also left their fans in strain in 2020 after they ended up in the seventh place with their poor performance.
